Chinatown Rising

The Asian-American Movement from the perspective of young residents on the front lines of their historic neighborhood in transition.

Engagements

collage of students and teachers in the classroom and on Chinatown walking tours.

“The other teachers and I saw what you were doing: you were teaching them through asking engaging questions and having them use their bodies to experience an S.R.O. or a protest. Students also loved the personal connections you shared about Chinatown. Many of them are recent, first- or second-generation immigrants, so your story spoke to them.”

-Mary Ann Davis, Ph.D
Keys School, Palo Alto, CA

types of engagements we offer:

1) Full film screening (85 min) and Q&A conversation with co-director Josh Chuck and other Chinatown activists.

2) Presentation featuring excerpts of the film and Q&A conversation with co-director Josh Chuck and other Chinatown Rising activists. Can be customized to fit your topical and time preferences.

3) Classroom Q&A with co-director Josh Chuck for those who have already watched the film. All topics are fair game.

4) Chinatown Social Justice Tour for up to 25 people, typically around 90 minutes. Led by co-director Josh Chuck, we visit historically, culturally and personally significant sites.
